How to behave in brown bear areas
Dear residents and visitors,
The municipality of Štrba informs you that in the territory of Tatranská Štrba and Štrbské Pleso we have noticed an increased movement of bears in several places.
We therefore ask you to be extra cautious and to observe the following precautions:
- Avoid lonely and unfamiliar places. If possible, stay on busier roads and trails.
- Do not dispose of food or rubbish outside secure areas. Ensure that all rubbish is properly contained and disposed of in designated areas.
- Keep pets on a leash. Dogs and other pets can attract bears.
- Do not approach bears. If you spot a bear, remain calm, don't panic, and back away slowly. Never approach a bear for the purpose of photography or observation.
