Tatra Flowers Music Festival

The Tatras will bloom with art and experiences: Slovakia starts Tatra Flowers, a new music festival

We love the Tatras and art, so we decided to join these passions of ours and prepare a new cultural event for you to enjoy.

During the weekend of September 1-3 2017, you’ll be welcome to enjoy the beautiful coupling of art and the mountains.

Music is the festival’s central theme, mixing different genres from ethno, traditional folk and classical music to jazz, modern alternative music and various fusions of all of these.

The beautiful Tatras will be set in motion by SĽUK and its Krížom-krážom program performed in the large amphitheater, at the Štrbské Pleso ski jump landing site, where Jana Kirshner will perform as well.

She will even join SĽUK in a joint performance prepared exclusively for Tatra Flowers.

The Tatras will also welcome the Mucha Quartet featuring Iva Bittová, Michal Matejčík, Katarína Máliková, Peter Lipa and the world-renowned violin virtuoso Dalibor Karvay.

The jazz section will be headed by Boris Čellár and will include artists such as the Valér Miko Trio, Carpet Cabinet, and Boris’ own project Lucia Lužinská & Boris Čellár Quintessence.

A welcome enrichment of the Tatra Flowers, Vienna’s Marina Zettl will perform on Hrebienok with her band Marina & The Kats. During the Tatra Flowers festival, you’ll also have the chance to learn what a WoodPack or a Hang Drum is.

The film section will be supervised by two gentlemen, Peter Hámor and Pavol Barabáš, both of them present in person. The film stage will be complemented by musical performances as well, including Peter Luha, for example.

There are more than 20 artists collaborating on the festival’s program.

The Tatra Flowers will bloom for 3 days at 8 different venues of the High Tatras, with 30 different experiences to attend.

Štrbské Pleso, Skalnaté PleHrebienok, Téryho chata, Skalnaté pleso, Starý Smokovec, Popradské pleso and the Tatranská Lomnica church and park – all of these venues will become stages for art and extraordinary experiences at the Tatra Flowers festival.

29 of the 30 performances, concerts and film screenings are free of charge. 

The only thing you’ll have to buy tickets for is the Saturday, September 9 afternoon in the amphitheater under the Štrbské Pleso ski ramps, where SĽUK and JANKA KIRSCHNER will present their solo performances, as well as several songs performed together, exclusively for the Saturday’s Tatra Flowers program.
